Nostell Priory holiday park, which sits in a beautiful ancient woodland as part of the Nostell Priory Estate, opens its doors on March 1st boasting a newly developed touring field that can accommodate 60 touring caravans, motor homes, and tents.

The park, home to some 84 caravan holiday homes in “The Glades”, has been runner up in the “Best Park in Yorkshire” for 3 consecutive years. The touring facility has been popular for years and over the winter work has taken place to improve the access roads and drainage to the area. This means that in the wetter times access and drainage should be much improved.

John Conlon, manager of the park for the last 3 years, has overseen the work and is very proud of the results. “I am sure that all of our customers will see the benefit of the investment that we have made over the winter. Many of our customers return year after year and we are always looking to improve the standards that we offer them.”

“We’ve always had fantastic facilities at the park and our shower block is excellent. This work goes some way towards making the pitches themselves as good as the shower and toilet facilities.”

Alongside the touring facility Nostell Priory has been developed over the last four years to accommodate 84 caravan holiday homes and lodges which are all situated in private glades of 12 – 15 holiday homes. Many of the caravan owners hail from the surrounding area and nearly all are from Yorkshire itself. 

The park has been graded as “Exceptional” by the English Tourist Board and has also been the recipient of the David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award for its environmental policies. As a place to come and relax it is wonderful. Owners enjoy access to the 200 or so acres of National Trust parkland and woods that surround the park and form the Nostell Priory Estate. The Estate is based around the Nostell Priory House itself, home to Lord & Lady St Oswald. The house contains the finest collection of bespoke Chippendale furniture in the county and people visit from all over the world.

At the northern tip of the holiday park you’ll find the newly restored obelisk – a fine setting for watching the sun go down as you gaze across the rolling countryside which is in the process of being returned to its most natural state.

Nostell Priory Holiday Park is situated on the main Wakefield to Pontefract road at Foulby, West Yorkshire and is rated 5 stars by the English Tourist Board.
